Remember how fun it was to play in the loft of your granddaddy's barn when you were a kid? Well, it's still fun, but this ain't your granddaddy's barn. The downstairs is all business. With eight stalls and paddocks with automatic waterers, a tack room, and a horse-wash station, your horses will feel right at home. Maybe you want to bring a llama, a dog, or a wallaroo. I don't care; throw 'em in a stall. We want to accommodate your needs. And you're probably a little more discerning than your pets, which is why the upstairs is well-appointed to suit your needs. This space was built for relaxation, so you can veg out watching TV, clean up in the rainfall shower after a day of hiking, riding, or skiing, or fall asleep watching the fire glow from your bed. Only five miles from downtown Whitefish, The Stalls at Whitefish is conveniently close to restaurants and entertainment, yet it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. Bucolic at its best. In the summer, you can grill a steak and eat next to the campfire. In the winter, you can snowshoe, cross country ski (there's even a groomed trail a few miles down the road), snowmobile, or head up to Big Mountain for a day of downhill skiing. No matter what you like to do, we're close to it. And when the day is done, there's no better setting in which to relax. Whatever your preference, come on over! So that there's no confusion on the number of beds/bedrooms, There's a master bedroom with a king bed. There's a bunk area just outside the bedroom with 3 bunks that the kids will love. And there's a sleeper sofa in the living room. The parking area is just outside the barn. Heck, I even put up a sign for you. Please don't park inside the barn. I'll be happy to meet you if I see you, but I promise to not be clingy or creepy (ya know, like Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy). In addition to the garden, there are many miles of logging trails (see map in the barn) for hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, horseback riding, or cross country skiing. Please observe any signs marked "private". Part of my property is reserved for myself. There's also a neighbor to the south of me. Their drive is also marked by a sign. Please don't go peeking into their windows, invite yourselves to dinner, or steal their dogs. Please keep aforementioned dogs, wallaroos, etc. in the stalls downstairs. There is a pet fee of $15 per pet per night. If you're bringing horses, there's a separate boarding fee agreement that I can send you before you arrive. You are welcome to enjoy my vegetable/flower garden (look for the gate and sign to the pathway). It's a great place to read a book or just listen to the bees buzz. You can pick some fresh herbs for your dinner or munch on a fresh strawberry. If you see a gopher in the garden, play Whack-A-Mole.

January 2025 5.00We loved staying at the stalls! Went for a weeklong ski trip with family and brought our two dogs. The place was so cozy and very private, which was nice after some long days on the mountain. Doug was super proactive with directions and was available for whatever we needed. The dogs loved it and it was 10 mins from town. LOVE!!

October 2024 5.00Beautiful property and a unique place to stay. The bed in the master is very comfortable, the bathroom is very roomy and thoughtfully put together. The living area is super cozy. It’s a little confusing to find with all of the Private Propery signs part way up the road but the directions were good. We were only there for a night and didn’t take advantage of the outdoor fire pit but it’s such a nice option! Doug was responsive with any questions that came up. We appreciate the opportunity to stay!

October 2024 5.00Doug’s place was beautiful! We loved that it was out of town and offered space to get away, but was also within 15 minutes of town. We had a great time.
